The Pekabex Group has finished the installation of the prefabricated structure od two objects in new Volgswagen factory, constructed in Września in Wielkopolskie province. The total value of works realized by the Group amounted to over 50 millions PLN.
The new factory is being constructed in Białężyce near Września, where in 2016 the new generation of Volkswagen Crafter will be manufactured. The investment realized on the area of 220 ha engaged many Polish and international building companies. The Pekabex Group was responsible for realization of prefabricated structure of two objects in new factory: the future paint shop and multifunctional connector building, being the “backbone” of the whole facility.
The range of works included designing, manufacturing, and installation of prefabricated elements, including columns, floor slabs, and beams in the traditional and prestressed technology. The total value of works realized by Pekabex amounted to over 50 millions PLN.
– The biggest challenge of that project was undoubtedly its scale and realization time. We have manufactured, delivered to the construction site, and installed almost 4,900 elements in total, where the biggest ones have had over 33 metres of length and weighed over 100 tons each. Transport of such oversize elements was possible only during the night with use of special transport sets, brought from Germany. Works have been started in late autumn so we had realized most of them during winter season. It was possible thanks to the prefabrication technology where the whole production of elements is realized in our factory and the finished elements are installed at the construction site, so works may be realized also when the temperature drops below zero – said Przemysław Borek, President of Pekabex Bet, the company from Pekabex Group realizing the contract. – I am very happy that we have realized the tasks assigned to us in new Volkswagen factory on time, which reinforces our reliability as a solid partner and confirms our competences for realization of big contracts requiring the complex structural solutions. The Volkswagen factory is another technologically advanced project, beside the railway stations in Poznań and Łódź, LNG terminal in Świnoujście, or tunnel under Martwa Wisła in Gdańsk, where the prefabricated elements from Pekabex Group have been used – added Przemysław Borek.
